Hi,
After 6 months as membership secretary. I've taken it upon myself to produce a newsletter to keep everybody in touch.
We currently have a total of 224 members. This breaks down to, 59 concessionary, 118 non concessionary renewals, 5 life members and 5 comitee. We also welcomed 37 new members and have about 20 potential members on the current waiting list. These are important for the future as we had 40 non renewals last year. The committee has agreed to keep the membership at its current 224 which we feel does not put too much strain on our lakes. Due to current and future work going on within the land and a round the lake, the owners of Clay End have decided not to renew our lease from November 1st 2025 onwards. The club has done nothing wrong in this regard and has always managed and improved this natural lake to the best of its ability. We have therefore removed the aerator to Warrens and the savings from the Clay End lease will be used to improve Warrens Green and Weston lakes.
With concerns about the depth of Warrens Green and Weston we are currently considering the best option to increase it. Work on these projects will commence with the agreement of the landowner ASAP. Professional applied "Siltex" is one option under consideration.
The club currently finds itself in a good financial position with an active and motivated committee. We currently function without a chairman and we face the possibility of losing our secretary in July 2026 as Elliot looks to seek his fortune the abroad. These factors have not hindered the progress of the club but we will look towards filling these posts as soon as possible.
We recently initiated the clubs Facebook website which currently has 45 members and counting. We endevour to put the latest information on there along with your notable catches and observations. This site is only available to members and all posts are vetted. This is managed by the committee. Take a look. You will often find that the most up to date information is on there because our club members often update it before the commitee is able to update the website. I recommend that member join if at all possible.
We also have a WhatsApp match group which is administered by Lee, the match secretary, who looks to include members who regularly attend the matches, the dates of which are posted on the "PAC website".
Weston is our showpiece lake which has attracted many new members in recent years due to its well maintained attractive features. Lillies, reed beds and walkways to well maintained swims are a tribute to our small army of volunteers and particular mention goes to our baillifs who have done most of the heavy work.
A lot of work has also gone into Warrens Green lake which tends to be fished less but is prefered by some members for its solitude and stock of thriving, good sized carp.
Look out for our request for volunteers to assist with this maintenance, particulary in the spring. The wellbeing of our lakes is constantly monitored by our bailiffs who appart from tree loping, reed cutting, general gardening and aerating the lakes have the responsibility for checking the oxygen levels using some recently purchased state of the art equipment. Jake our fishery officer is the officianardo on this bit of kit.
Whilst we may not produce newsletters on a regular notice, please monitor Facebook and the PAC website for any ongoing issues and information. I hope this letter goes some way to explaining what goes on in the background...
Thanks, in anticipation of your continued support and the committee will be happy to deal with any issues and questions. Regards.
Steve Rotchell (Membership secretary)

AGM MEETING MINUTES
AGM Meeting 11/4/24
Committee present: Ken, Barry Elliott, Cath, Steve, Jake, Steve, Joe, Luke No apologies
Introduction: Ken Dell open the meeting and introduction of everyone on the committee, which was then passed to Barry. Barry: talked about being in the club for 42 years since 1982 and talk about seeing old faces and new faces and gave a brief talk about the people on the committee doing a good job. Ken: then spoke about his position and what he does in and out of the club, reiterated about Barry being in the club for 42 years, spoke about how the club has changed but its nice to see old faces and new faces even though the turn out for the AGM was small happy people could make it. Talk about some of the older members who have been in the club and have done their bit through out the years to keep the club running and the new members helping carry that on. Then passed over to club secretary Elliott
Elliott: introduced himself and spoke about seeing lot of friendly faces both old and new and how he has been active on the committee for a couple of years now, talked about the website being changed for a new one. Thanks the committee for all the support of him through the good and the bad times. Thank Ken for all his guidance and the knowledge he has parted on to him, Then spoke about Joe, Luke and jake coming along well with the job they had in hand and getting the work parties ready to keep the lakes looking lovely for the members to fish. Thanks was also given to Ron and Ian for the work they have done around the lakes. Ken: Has also mentioned about the leases for the lakes with Clayend being signed and Weston and Warrens being done as well, Then introduced and passed over to Member secretary Steve.
Steve: Nice to see old faces and new, started with saying the membership list is looking healthy and understand that its not been easy for people with the cost of living crises. Ask that because these are new books please make sure that if renewing you have a fresh passport photo with you for the new books. To also make sure that these are renewed before the last day of May. Ken: Steve now has the very hard task of getting all the members ready and if everyone can make sure they get renewed and not left to the last minute. Passed over to Finance Cath.
Cath: Cath introduces herself and goes straight into the figures on the accounts Total membership money in: 18,210 Cost for the fisheries equipment and supplies brought the total out money to 20,960 Currently to date there is 5,050 in the bank. Ken: Explained the situation with the clay end leases and how they are November 1 so when we renewed we had to pay twice due to the time frame with Weston and warrens 1st June Clayend 1st November Ken also explained that money as been spent on some of the work around the lakes which is the first time the club has had to pay for external people to do work and the cost of other things such as the generators and the dye which is why we had spent more then we had brought in Explain the negotiations with the lake and what the old prices were and the now new prices: Then Now Weston: 4,180 4,000 Warrens: 2630 4,000
Ken stated this was negotiated down a lot and took a lot of work, Ken also spoke about being 52 member short on the list and this was due to people giving Steve the run around or not renewing when they were meant to. Ken spoke about the prices frozen but if we keep having these problems. He will have to investigate prices increases or renting the lakes out to club for matches for the day which will reduce fishing time.
Ken then passed onto the Fisheries officer and head baliff Jake, luke and Joe Jake spoke on behalf of the Three, Jake spoke about how they are spaced about with Joe mainly doing Clayend and Luke and Jake with Weston and Warrens. They are putting more focus onto fish safety and how we can help make the fish healthier both in the water and on the bank. A question was asked by a member about the work parties to which Jake replied that this Sunday and for the next 6 weeks there will be work parties on going. They will be put on the website tonight with the details for the first work parties which will be Sunday 14th April meeting Clayend car park at 8:30 am. A question was asked by members about any tool they should bring that will be needed, Jake stated all tool are useful but mainly shovels are what is needed the most as a lot of digging needed for the replacement of the pipe to be repaired. Ken: The main concern is replacing the Pipe as where the pipe had been destroyed the water was not flowing and overflowing into the field also stopped any Dye being put in because this would also just escape instead of staying in the lake and would just be a waste of money putting the dye in at the moment. A list of job is there and there is something for everyone for Pruning to digging and everything in between. Ken asked for the Cray fish traps not to be messed about with and that they are there to do a job but if you do catch a cray fish although you may not like it step on it. Ken the made a point to say if it is an egg bearing females, please take it far away from the lake to destroy or dispose off because the eggs can make their way back into the lake. Ken went on to say if any cormorants are seen on the lakes the please phone and make the club aware as there are at other lakes and we want to keep them there and not exploring our lakes. The Bailiff is a full time job with the 3 lads and Ken throwing people off regular and Ken stated he had thrown 4 people off the last couple of days walking around the lakes.
Ken then passed onto the match secretary Lee Lee: Thank everyone who turned up to the matches and stated last year saw 24 different people turn up to the matches. Total there were 16 matches. Charity matches were done for Kevin Elson. Total money raised by the Anglers and people coming down to donate was 171 pounds total and this was given to the garden house hospice by the club. Lee then went on to talk about matches and that all are welcome to the matches and all the upcoming dates for the matches are on the website. Then trophies were presented to the winners
Lee in between announcing the cups spoke about Paul Gaudion passing away and giving the cup to his wife. Then spoke about the Christmas match and how Steve Rochell won the match then as he got up ended up fracturing his leg and thanks to the people that stayed to help him out.
Ken then closed out the meeting by thanking everyone who came to the AG< even tho the turn out could have been a lot better as many members missing and would have been good to see some face.
Meeting Closed: 19:50:
